In the afternoon, we went to the street and found the chairman of the neighborhood committee. She took us to the meeting room and told us what we should do to prepare for the meeting. Then we started our job. We turned on the air condition to make the room warm and did some cleaning. After we finished, we went and stood at the gate of the neighborhood committee and told the people who came to the conference where the meeting room was. Because the people who took part in the conference were all the disabled people, they might have difficulty walking upstairs. We helped them go to the meeting room. During the conference, we gave people cups of tea and helped the staffs hand out the fruits that the neighborhood committee gave to the disabled people as presents. After the meeting, we swept and mopped the floor and also cleaned the table.
I learn a lot from this volunteer work. The neighborhood committee is a very basic unit of each street. It controls even very small things about our daily life. People from anywhere cannot live without it. In China, the committees offer a good place for elderly to chat or play mah-jongg, chess, poker or other communities with each other. They also organize lots of activities. It has a very close relationship with people. Also, they hold meetings with the disabled people. I find that if we work in the neighborhood committee, we must be very careful When we were preparing, we needed to work carefully enough that we could complete the requirements of the meeting room, such as turning on the air conditioner to make the room warm, asking the chairmen to know how many people would come to the meeting so that we could know how many chairs we needed. Also, we needed to pay attention to every detail. During the meeting, we would be helping people add more tea or water if they need, and also helping people get the worksheet.

Also, I think the spirits of the disabled people are worth learning for us. Although they are disabled, they still enjoyed their lives. I think that working as a volunteer in the neighborhood committee trains us how to be responsible and careful to work in a social place. After this experience, from these disabled people, I have a lesson to know that it is very important to give out love to these people who are in need.
In addition, the neighborhood is such a very basic unit for the society. Therefore, it is a very meaningful chance for us to learn abilities to work for the society. The benefits we gave to them were that I could help them to do these trifling things and let them put more effort into the conference. We can let the disabled people feel that people are not far away from them. We look forward to getting more chances to serve them. It may make them feel the love of our young teenagers and we all have a hot heart. In addition, for the neighborhood committee, they do need us to help them hold this conference and do some cleaning as volunteers.
