Erik and I taught each other to improve our basketball skills.


In my lots of hobbies, playing basketball was my favorite. I was a crazy basketball fan. I could even spend all my time on the court. As a result, at the beginning of this term, I heard that there was a basketball club in GCA. I told it to my classmates who would have interests in joining the club and playing basketball. Of course, we would not miss this wonderful chance to improve our basketball skills, so we joined this Basketball Club. From the club, I not only improved my basketball skills, my physical strength and stamina, but also it makes me learn the team spirit more deeply.
Our coach was Mr. Saxby. He was really tall and I could feel that he used to be a specialized basketball player from his strong body. The scene that the first time we had training was still fresh in my mind. Mr. Saxby told us that our mission was to run around the lap for 15 times. We were all really surprised to hear that. We wondered that why we joined the basketball club, but we were trained to run instead of playing basketball. It was really a tough job. When we were running, he encouraged us to keep running and not to stop. Some students cheated by taking the short cut so they could run less distance. Mr. Saxby’s word gave me a large impression” That’s cheat yourselves”. After we finished running 15 laps, we were all exhausted. We realized that the purpose of this running training is to improve our physical strength and stamina, so we could be more powerful and energetic on the court, and these two were two basic parts for playing basketball.
Erik was also a member of this club, and he was better than me. He always did a good job and got lots of points by shooting or making a lay up shot. During the free time, I asked him for help and he was willing to be my teacher. He was very patient to teach me how to be easier to get points. Also, I was good at defending had the same hobbies and we all wanted to be more powerful on the court, so we could teach him how to defend. In the club, we could help each other to improve our basketball skills into a higher level. It always made me feel the love of friends or my teammates.
On the basketball court, the teamwork was the most important. This game needed all the players on the ground put all their efforts together to achieve the victory. We are not Kobe, Yao Ming or Iverson. There was no individual hero on the court; everyone should concentrate on it. When we were playing basketball, and we needed to create the chance to get points or find the space to pass the ball to assist our teammates. If a team was full of good co-ordination on the court, they would probably be the winner of the game.
After this process, I found that I am full of potential to run such a large distance. It reminded me of a slogan said by Kobe”if you really want it, you can do everything you want.” We all proved ourselves. l learned that whatever we are going to face in my life, we should be full of confidence to put all our efforts into it. Also, team work is one of the most important things I learned. When we are studying or working with others in the future, teamwork is just like a ladder that helps us to achieve the success. Not only on the basketball court, but also in our life, people who have strong team spirit will always be the winner.

However, we would loss our free time to do our homework, because we spent more time in playing basketball, it might be the weakness.
In addition, my personal fitness goal was to improve my basketball skills and it could help keep fit. I thought that playing basketball could make me grow taller. So the benefits were to make me stronger and more powerful on the court. On the other hand, we could make our basketball team lager and stronger.
